There has been a barrage of ETFs and ETNs making it hard to find a place where one get a good listing of the many the ETFs & ETNs by category.

This section contains the most common ETF & ETN symbols along with their corresponding names. Although these investment vehicles give traders and investors access to markets that are traditionally too expensive or risky for smaller investors, it is a good idea to read up and study further. ETF Tip 2

Be sure to consider the average daily volume before trading in any EFT or ETN. Lower volume issues could potentially have liquidity issues, be more subject to price manipulations, and have negative price consequences during purchase or sales. An example being, when you purchase 10,000 share that moves the price sharply up for purchase, when you try to sell, it take the price sharply down for selling.

The ETF Encyclopedia

Here is a site that is the self-proclaimed Encyclopedia of ETFs. Over all it is a pretty good site. Some of these ETFs however are very obscure and I found that some of them no longer trade.

Due Diligence is a must. Please consider the average daily volume before trading. Some of these securities are thinly traded and therefore very illiquid; subject to manipulation etc.
